Victory & Hope

According to Luke 13:10-11 Jesus "was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself." Life must have been difficult for that woman. For 18 years she had been living with what must have been a painful, debilitating, physical infirmity that limited what she was able to do.

Like that woman, many people have had to learn to live with a physical infirmity or handicap of one sort or another. Some for eighteen years or less. Others for their entire lifetime. At times it is hard to enjoy life even when a person is in the best of health. But when a person has to deal with a physical condition that limits him or her it is all that much more difficult.

The good news concerning the woman in Luke 13 is that she was healed by the Lord Jesus. Jesus "laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God" (Luke 13:13). For the first time in 18 years she was able to stand and walk in an upright position! The "bad news" was that she yet remained in a body that was subject to disease and death.

That's the bad news for all of us as well. We, also, find ourselves living in a body that is subject to decay, disease and death. Eventually the aging process takes its toll on all of us. And even before we are in our senior years we may find ourselves having to live with some physical infirmity that limits what we can do. But there is victory and hope. Some day our bodies will no longer be subject to disability, disease and death. "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 15:57). Those who trust in Christ to save them from their sin not only have forgiveness of sin and everlasting life but also they will receive a glorified body that will last for eternity.

What We Believe

Hoisington Bible Church is part of the Berean Fellowship of Churches. You can check out their website at https://weareberean.org/.

We of the Hoisington Bible Church firmly believe the great doctrines of historic Christianity as they are revealed in the Bible.

We believe the Bible to be the Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts, and the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

We believe that there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—the creator and sustainer of all things. (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 3:14; Acts 17:24-26)

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His substitutionary death, His bodily resurrection, and His imminent second coming. He is God's only begotten Son and the only person of the Godhead man has ever seen. (Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:1-14; Acts 2:22-32; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by practice and are in need of a Savior. That salvation is the result of faith alone in Christ alone. (Romans 3:23-25; Romans 6:23, Acts 16:30-31)

We believe that every true believer is eternally secure. (John 10:28-30; Romans 8:38-39; 1 John 5:13)

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and the unsaved. (John 5:28-29; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) (Revelation 20:11-15)

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit to convict, guide, teach, and enable Christians to live a godly life. (John 16:7-15; Galatians 5:16-26)

Our Missionaries

Hoisington Bible Church has a rich history of sending and supporting missionaries. This is in obedience to Christ's Great Commission: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you..." (Matthew 28:19-20)

We support 5 missionary units, praying for them on a regular basis and welcoming them to Hoisington whenever possible. Here are the missionaries and ministries that we support:
